- Threat Scan- It scans all the places malware is known to hide, including Memory, Startup, Registry and FileSystem Objects. This is recommended as your daily scan
- Custom Scan- Allows you to scan where and what you want to scan. Modifications include choosing which Objects to scan (Memory, Startup and Registry). Enables you to customize the treatment of Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs) and Modifications (PUMs).
- Hyper Scan(Available with Malwarebytes Premium Only) - Quickly checks Memory and Startup Objects for active malware threats. If anything is found, we recommend running a Threat Scan afterward for more comprehensive detection.
To perform a Threat Scan:
- Click the Scantab in the left pane of the Dashboard.
- Select Threat Scan, you will see the threat scan get a green check mark to indicate it is selected.
- Then click Start Scan to begin..
To perform a Custom Scan:
- Click the Scan tab in the left pane of the Dashboard.
- Select Custom Scan, you will see the title of the scan get a green check mark to indicate it is selected.
- Click on Configure scan to set the parameters for this scan.
- Select the desired drive letter to the right of the Custom Scan configuration screen. To select individual items or folders, click the drop down menu next to the check box for that drive letter and check the box next to each item to be included in the scan.
- Choose which extra scan options you would like to include in the scan.
- Selecting how PUPsand PUMs will be treated when detected.
- Click the Scan Now button.
To perform a Hyper Scan:
- Click the Scan tab in the left pane of the Dashboard.
- Select Hyper Scan.
- Click the Start Scan button.
